Brie Cheese bread bowl
Brie cheese is one of my favorites because of the creamy, aged flavor. But, when you add crispy bread it makes it SO much better. The biggest catch to this recipe is that I used my secret weapon for saving time on this luscious appetizer.
Of course we all know that anything homemade is better than store bought but sometimes you have to cut down on time and keep some store bought ingredients in your home. For this recipe I used one loaf of frozen dough. ( shhh don't tell anyone)
Ingredients
brie cheese
2tbsp cooked, chopped bacon
1/2 shallot sautéed
1 clove of garlic
1 frozen dough loaf
salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
Allow frozen dough to thaw out and become manageable and set aside. Cook bacon and shallots, at this point the dough should be ready to form into a ball and place in oven. This took about 10-15 minutes for the dough to be mostly cooked. You do not want the bread bowl to be fully cooked because it will finish once the cheese has been added.
When the top of the bowl starts to turn a light, golden brown pull it out and cut the top out and into the middle slightly to allow room for the cheese. Cut your brie cheese and place it into the cavity that has been created.
Place the bread bowl back into the oven for approximately 10 more minutes until the bowl is a dark brown and the cheese is starting to boil. Take the baking sheet out of the oven and scatter the bacon and shallots over the bread bowl.
When you bite into a piece of the bread bowl you will taste the crunchy bread ( I promise you will not even know that it was just frozen bread) and the succulent, lush brie cheese it feels like pure comfort + a true lavish appetizer that is so easy to make.
